Leonia Board reelects Lee as president, names Melman vice president

Mister Lee was elected board president and Miss Melman was elected vice president at the Leonia Board of Education reorganizational meeting, following nominations and roll-call votes.

The nominations process began with members submitting nominations; Miss Melman and Miss Choi notified the board by email that they nominated Mister Lee for president. After nominations were closed the board conducted a roll-call vote and declared Mister Lee president for another term. President Lee thanked the board for its support, saying, "Thank you all. And thank you all for your vote of confidence, for another year. It's been great serving and working with you all." He then presided over the remainder of the meeting.

Miss Choi nominated Miss Melman for vice president (also via email). With no other nominations, the board conducted a roll-call vote and confirmed Melman as vice president. The board followed the votes by formally recognizing newly elected and re-elected members: Mister Grau, Miss Choi and Miss Thompson. The meeting paused briefly so families could take photographs after the oath for newly seated members.

The board chair read the required notice of compliance with the Sunshine Law and the Open Public Meetings Act before the elections, confirming that agenda posting and public notice procedures were followed.

The leadership votes were procedural and decided by roll-call; the transcript records affirmative roll-call responses for the members present. No motions to reconsider either leadership election were recorded at the meeting.

Less central items at the reorganizational meeting included routine introductory remarks from board members thanking staff and teachers and brief ceremonial remarks welcoming returning and newly elected members.

The board will next convene for regular business at its scheduled meetings, where elected officers will preside over agenda items and committee assignments.
