Multiple residents raised quality-of-life concerns during the township’s public comment period on Oct. 2, describing recurring raccoon and rodent problems, discarded mattresses and truck traffic on neighborhood streets.
A resident who identified herself as Verdell of Lee Avenue asked how to request sewer cleanings and removal of bulky items such as mattresses; public works staff directed her to the public works supervisor. Another commenter, Carmel Walker of 7103 Lee Avenue, said she had found animal remains and signs of wildlife inside walls and in front yards and described ongoing damage. A third resident who owns a Highland Avenue property said she has spent money on trapping and soffit repairs after repeated raccoon incidents.
Township staff told residents to contact Animal Control Supervisor Amy Schmalbach for wildlife and nuisance complaints and said the township phone extension for that office will change to 1102 starting next week; staff also said information would be posted on the township website. Staff offered to have public works and other municipal staff follow up on specific reports.
No formal action or vote occurred during public comment; committee members and staff acknowledged the reports and provided contact information for follow-up.
