Board of County Commissioners votes 7-0 to enter executive session for personnel evaluation

The Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on Oct. 5 to recess its open meeting and convene a two-hour executive session at 1:05 p.m. to conduct a personnel evaluation and discuss non‑elected personnel matters. Commissioner Hanslick made the motion, and Commissioner Allen Brand seconded.

The motion cited K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(1) as the statutory authority for the closed session. “I move the board recess its open meeting and convene an executive session at 01:05PM for a total period of 2 hours for the purpose under KSA 75 43 19 b 1 to conduct an evaluation and discuss matters pertaining to the Board's non elected personnel and to protect the employee's privacy and to reconvene in open session in this room at 03:05PM,” Commissioner Hanslick said during the motion.

A roll call vote followed. Commissioners Fest, Myers, Brewer, Hanslick, Ashcraft, Allen Brand and Chairman Kelly each voted “aye,” producing a 7-0 tally. The board recessed with plans to reconvene in open session at 3:05 p.m. The motion also specified that the county manager would be in attendance for part of the executive-session discussion.
