The Brighton Central School District Board of Education unanimously approved its districtwide school safety plan and the 2025–26 code of conduct during its Sept. 30 meeting at Council Rock Primary School.
Board members reviewed both documents — which had been examined previously on Aug. 20 — and took separate motions to adopt them. "Both of these are available on the school website for anybody to look at or review," Board President (Mister Davis) said during the discussion, noting public access to the files.
Why it matters: The districtwide safety plan and the code of conduct set expectations and procedures that guide daily operations, emergency response and student behavior across all district schools. The board’s adoption keeps the district in compliance with state requirements for schools to maintain updated safety and conduct documents.
How the board voted: A motion to approve the 2025–26 districtwide school safety plan was moved by board member Carrie Lynn and seconded by Christina; the motion carried with the board answering "Aye." The 2025–26 code of conduct was moved by Esther and seconded by Sue and likewise passed on an "Aye" vote.
No substantive amendments were recorded during the meeting. Board members encouraged public review and reminded the community that the documents are posted on the district website for reference.
