The Secaucus Board of Education approved curriculum updates and a set of plans and handbooks recommended by the education committee.
The education committee chair told the board the committee met July 30 and presented curriculum updates in business economics, culinary arts, the prekindergarten program, K–5 English‑as‑a‑Second‑Language and social studies, and zoology. The committee also recommended approval of the high school, middle school and elementary student handbooks and codes of conduct, an emergency virtual or remote instruction program plan and the Safe Return plan. The board approved resolutions R 3.1 through R 3.07 by roll call.
The education committee chair also announced several back‑to‑school events and supports: high school new‑student orientation on Aug. 25, middle‑school orientation on Aug. 26, and college essay workshops and an Advanced Placement informational session on Aug. 27.
The chair noted teachers and supervisors spent the summer updating curriculum materials and characterized the extended school year program as “a big success this year.” No substantive debate over the individual curriculum items was recorded in the meeting minutes; items were presented as committee recommendations and adopted by vote.
