The Secaucus Board of Education approved five education resolutions that add coursework, a mentoring plan, classroom tools and supports for the 2025–26 school year.
At the education committee report, staff described three curriculum priorities: using LinkIt for longitudinal student data, aligning curricula to updated state standards and expanding tiered supports for students’ mental-health and academic needs. The board approved resolution R3.01 to introduce courses in probability and statistics and computer programming; R3.02 approved the district mentoring plan; R3.03 approved Google Gemini for grades 6–12; R3.04 approved a digital notebook program for grades 8–12; and R3.05 authorized disposal of outdated IT equipment and approved a field trip.
Devon Paradis, who led the presentation, described LinkIt as “a comprehensive individual program” that helps teachers break down student performance by class and topic. Paradis also credited a partnership with Lifelines and New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services for expanding tiered supports and intervention referrals.
The board also announced a new pre-K AM inclusion class taught by a dually certified special education teacher to begin September 2025. Committee members said professional development for staff will include three full professional development days plus additional half days at the start of the school year, with some sessions focused on data use and classroom AI tools.
Roll call on the five education resolutions recorded affirmative votes from board members present and the motions passed.
