Superintendent Doctor Mannarino presented the proposed 2026–27 academic calendar to the North Hills Board of Education committee on Oct. 2 and recommended the board add it to the legislative meeting agenda for approval. Mannarino said the draft calendar largely mirrors the current year’s calendar shifted forward one week because of the later Labor Day in 2026. He said the first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, and graduation is listed as June 4, 2027. The superintendent noted a correction to the marking‑period end date on the printed calendar: the first marking period will end on Oct. 24 (the transcript says “20 fourth” then clarified as Oct. 24), not the date shown in some printed calendars.
The board president moved that the calendar item be added to the legislative agenda; the motion was seconded by a board member and carried by voice vote at the committee meeting. The item will be presented for formal action at the next legislative meeting. Mannarino described spring break as a full week in March, included weather days in that week, and noted the district plans to submit a Flexible Instructional Time (FIT) application in April to secure flexible instructional days for the following June deadline.
Why it matters: adopting a finalized calendar allows families and staff to plan for the coming school year. Mannarino said the district included extended holiday breaks and detailed weather‑day planning in the draft.
Next steps: The calendar was added to the legislative agenda for formal consideration and vote.
