The Board of Public Works and Safety on Oct. 1 approved pay estimate No. 9 and change order No. 4 for the Northeast Water Main Extension, authorizing payment of $19,696.63 and approving a $2,696.63 increase to install protective T-posts and flags at valves and hydrants in farm-field sections of the run. John Piker, director of engineering, said the posts and flags were installed at the water company’s request. Piker said pay estimate No. 9 covers quantities placed from July 1 through July 31 and that the engineering department is requesting release of the balance of retainage of $10,000 plus accrued interest. He said the original contract was $4,210,569 and modifications have increased the contract to approximately $4,246,018.16. A board member moved to approve the pay estimate and change order; the motion was seconded and approved.
