City awards Ferris Center stormwater contract to lowest bidder at $249,500

The Board of Public Works and Safety on Oct. 1 awarded the Ferris Center stormwater extension contract to Kummer Contracting Inc., the lowest responsive bidder at $249,500. John Piker, director of engineering, told the board three bids were received and that Kummer Contracting’s $249,500 bid was the lowest and most responsive; Dyckman Excavating Company bid $264,055 and Solid Finished Construction bid $275,020. A board member moved to award the contract to Kummer Contracting for project number C2503-1A; the motion was seconded and approved. The engineering department recommended award and said it had reviewed the bids for responsiveness. The board did not discuss performance bonds, timelines or funding-source details during the motion.
