Waukegan Board of Education approves FY2026 budget; district to host live YouTube budget presentation Oct. 6

Nicholas Altsakis, director of communications for Waukegan Public Schools, said the Board of Education approved the fiscal year 2026 budget and that district leaders will host a live YouTube presentation on Monday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. to review the new budget and the district's financial health.

Altsakis said that "years of careful planning and strong financial practices have strengthened our fiscal position, earning recognition and improved credit ratings." He said the presentation will "provide an overview of the district's financial health, highlight the new budget, and share both the challenges and opportunities ahead."

The communications update did not include the board vote tally or the text of the budget motion; those formal records are kept in Board of Education minutes and budget documentation.
