The Franklin School Committee voted to close three high-school club accounts that had been inactive for at least three years and transfer the combined balance of $258.69 into the schoolwide student activity account.

District staff said the transfers follow policy JJFG (Disposition of Student Accounts), which calls for closing accounts that have had no receipts or transactions for three or more years. The action affects three high-school groups listed as inactive: French National Honor Society ($81.26), Photography and Graphic Design ($137.83), and Model Congress ($39.60).

A staff member who reviewed the accounts said, “So all of those 3 funds combined they're going to be transferred into the school wide student activity account, and it will support all the student activity clubs.” Committee members emphasized this was a bookkeeping and procedural vote, not a decision to end any active student organization; members noted that active clubs will retain their current accounts and that transfers were limited to dormant accounts dating to 2020–2022.

A motion to approve the closures and transfers was made and seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote. District staff said they will provide a list of accounts nearing the three-year inactivity threshold for future review.
