Cherokee Strip Museum reports 129 visitors last quarter and outlines fall events

Maddie Flores, director of the Cherokee Strip Museum, presented the museum’s quarterly report to the Perry City Council on Oct. 6, saying the museum logged 129 visitors and hosted about 15 school groups in the quarter.
Flores said September was the museum’s busiest month and that the museum is conducting quarterly outreach with booths and participation at the fairgrounds and town-square events. She said 54 of the visitors during the quarter were from out of state.
The director detailed upcoming public programs: three blacksmith demonstrations (the first scheduled for the coming Saturday), a museum work day with volunteer opportunities, a wagon-and-buggy show and a rural-heritage festival planned for November, plus a Christmas tea on Dec. 7 held in conjunction with the community Tour of Homes. Flores said FirstBank and Tractor Supply are primary sponsors for the November event.
Why it matters: The museum’s programs support local tourism and school education programs. The museum is expanding education days (including “Main Mondays”) and said it has room to book additional school visits for the rest of the year.
Council members had no substantive questions; staff thanked the museum director for outreach and volunteer opportunities.
