Community development director: Healthy Homes grant extended; CDBG reimbursements delayed until October

Community development director Barbara Brewer Watson told the Kankakee City Council Community Development Committee on Oct. 6 that the Healthy Homes grant received a six-month extension to allow contractors to finish outstanding projects.
The extension covers projects that were under contract but not yet through final inspection, Watson said. She told the committee that the city has 34 construction projects in process across several programs and that none of those projects completed the final inspection in September.
