County amends juvenile justice grant contract to change insurance and remove copyright clause

County staff told commissioners on Oct. 6 that a juvenile-justice professional-services contract paid by a juvenile court grant was revised to remove automobile and professional-liability insurance requirements, retain general liability and workers’ compensation, and delete an irrelevant copyright provision.
At the Oct. 6 workshop Grant Manager Larry Wallace summarized contract revisions to a professional-services agreement funded through a juvenile court grant.
Wallace said the revisions were non-material to the grant amount and work scope: the county removed requirements for professional liability and automobile liability insurance and retained general liability coverage at $1,000,000 per occurrence and workers’ compensation as required by law. The county also removed a copyright provision because the materials the contractor would use are copyrighted by another group and the clause was irrelevant.
Commissioners asked whether the contractor would transport youths in the program; Wallace said no, and that any authorized transportation for court-involved youth would be handled by an authorized transportation provider under the state's grant rules. Wallace said the contract start date was changed because work could not begin without a signed contract, but the grant amount and scope were not changed.
