The Mount Vernon School Board approved the district’s technology surplus list, which includes a large number of Chromebooks the technology director said have exceeded their useful life.

"Generally speaking, a Chromebook's lifespan is about 4 years. We've took these ... into year 7 and 8. So these are truly dead. No longer useful Chromebooks," Technology staff member Mister Hamilton said, explaining why the devices were listed for surplus and disposal.

Stacy moved to accept the technology surplus; Kelly seconded. The board approved the surplus 4-0. The technology staff noted the surplus list has shrunk in recent years as replacements have occurred and that items will be disposed of or sold according to district policy.
