The Public Safety Committee approved a suspension of rules and a favorable report amending an ordinance that had originally authorized a purchase of a high-fidelity simulation manikin from Boundtree Medical LLC, after staff said the full purchase price was donated.
Chief Reedy told the committee the purchasing process had delayed the item previously but that "they actually donated the full price of the mannequin now," so the department returned to amend the legislation. The chair and committee members moved and seconded suspension of the rules to expedite the amended legislation; the chair recorded no opposition.
The amended authorization removes the need for the city to expend funds for the manikin if the donation is accepted; any formal acceptance of a donated item and related agreements will follow city procedures for accepting donations and procurement amendments, and staff said they would finalize paperwork for the evening agenda.
