La Paz supervisors approve updated Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan

The La Paz County Board of Supervisors approved an updated Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan Oct. 6 for submission to the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (ADEMA) for compliance; staff said the Local Emergency Planning Committee reviewed the update on Aug. 28.
The La Paz County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 6 approved an updated Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan and authorized staff to post the plan to the county website and submit it to the state for compliance review.
Scott (Emergency Management) told the board that the Local Emergency Planning Committee reviewed and updated the plan on Aug. 28, 2025; the last plan update had been in 2023. He characterized the Oct. 6 vote as a housekeeping action to maintain compliance with state reporting requirements. The board voted without discussion and approved the plan.
No new funding or operational changes were proposed in the meeting; staff said the plan would be uploaded to the county website and sent to the Arizona Department of Emergency Services (state compliance agency) as required.
