The Greenville County Committee on Finance approved two community project applications: $2,000 for the City of Travelers Rest's annual Christmas parade and funding for the Slater Marietta Firefest.
Mr. Lambert, a county staff member presenting the applications, described the Travelers Rest request: "Our first application here is for the city of Travelers Rest, and this is for their annual Christmas parade, dollars 2,000. And the funds, basically are used to help defray the cost of putting on the parade." The committee approved that application by voice vote.
On the Slater Marietta Firefest, Mr. Lambert said the event is run by the Slater Marietta Fire Department and its nonprofit and described it as a fundraiser and public safety education event. "The fire department is requesting 2,002 thousand dollars. This is a Mr. Russo's district, and it's basically an event to support the fire department and that, fundraiser as well as an educational, event that they put on about fire prevention and fire safety. It takes place November 1 and is free to the public," he said.
Committee members moved and approved both items by voice vote; the chair declared, "The ayes have it." The transcript records the Firefest request wording as "2,002 thousand dollars," which is unclear in format; the committee approved the funding as presented in the meeting record.
Before adjournment, the chair noted the committee's livestream would run into the next meeting. The committee then voted to adjourn.
