The Williams County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 7 voted to support three corridor resolutions seeking future interstate designation, a feasibility study and a highway formula program for regional corridors including the Heartland Expressway and the Theodore Roosevelt Expressway.
The resolutions were read into the record as Resolution 2025-10-07.1 (supporting future interstate designation for Heartland Expressway, Theodore Roosevelt Expressway and a portion of Ports-to-Plains priority corridors), Resolution 2025-10-07.2 (supporting a future interstate feasibility study for those corridors) and Resolution 2025-10-07.3 (supporting a future interstate highway formula program). Commissioners moved and seconded a single motion to adopt the set of resolutions; roll call votes were unanimous.
A commissioner noted a typographical error in the draft resolution — the spelling of "Roosevelt" — which the board corrected before or during the reading. The board then approved the package and invited in-person attendees (including 4-H representatives) to leave if they needed to attend other agenda items.
Why it matters: the resolutions express local support for federal and state planning processes that could influence long-term corridor funding and designation, an action counties commonly take to signal local priorities to state DOT and federal partners.
What the board voted: the commission voted unanimously to adopt the three resolutions as presented and to transmit the county’s support through normal channels.
Ending: County staff will transmit the adopted resolutions to relevant regional planning and transportation partners.
