Road Superintendent Todd Miller updated the county commission on operations Oct. 9, reporting crews were blading roads, performing weed mowing and hauling gravel in multiple locations. Miller said culvert replacement work had included installing “3 brand new, 48 inches by 40” culverts and replacing bridge structures; a Grant County scraper assisted on a recent bridge-replacement project.
Miller requested two speed‑limit reductions: one change on 130 First (from 55 mph to 25 mph near a residence and grandchildren) and another on a hill near Ken Forster and Bill Butterfield’s place (to 35 mph). Miller told commissioners, “I recommend to go to 25 for that location,” citing child safety and heavy local road use. Commissioners asked about how the posted limits would transition at intersections; staff explained the changes would be posted at the intersections so drivers would see the new limits where appropriate.
Commissioner White moved to adopt Miller’s recommendations; the board approved the two speed‑limit changes in a roll‑call vote. Miller also sought and won approval to transfer funds from capital improvements for outside-wall replacement on the Belfield shop ($45,717) and approval of $34,600 to update the Dickinson shop heating software and control cards so the building HVAC systems remain serviceable. Both capital requests were approved by roll call.
Miller said other projects include chip-seal planning for 2026, bridge and culvert work, and hill reductions for snow-safety improvements; he asked commissioners to approve the speed‑limit items and budget transfers to get work underway.
