Companion petitions 2025 CZN836 and 2025 CAP836 for property at 4035 Meadows Parkway and 4195 Millersville Road were added to the expedited portion of the Oct. 9 hearing after the petitioner’s representative said the proposed operator had met with neighborhood organizations and submitted supporting materials.
Joe Calderon, representing the petitioner, said the operator, Nicole Fields, had spent recent weeks engaging with neighborhood organizations and that the petitioner had submitted three letters of support and a councilor’s endorsement. Calderon said the proposed use is a non‑incineration crematorium and that the petitioner accepted two commitments suggested by staff.
"Nicole Fields... is proposing to do a non incineration crematorium," Calderon said.
Kathleen, a Department of Metropolitan Development staff member, told the examiner that staff had no objection to expediting the petitions and praised the petitioner’s outreach: "Staff would have no objection to this being expedited... Mr. Calderon and the petitioner... took care of those, so this could be expedited." The examiner recommended approval of the companion petitions and said they would be placed on the MDC docket on Nov. 5.
No remonstrators appeared at the hearing. The examiner and staff emphasized that the petitions proceeded to expedited consideration because neighborhood concerns had been addressed through outreach and submission of technical and explanatory materials.
