The Sandoval County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and heard brief remarks from a local survivor urging screening.

Commissioner Catherine A. Brook read the proclamation noting national statistics cited in the county document about diagnoses and survival, and invited Kelly Skuse, a breast cancer survivor, to speak. “Now that October has been proclaimed by this body to be breast cancer awareness month, I ask each of you to remind your loved ones to get checked,” Skuse said.

Commissioners emphasized screening for people of all ages and genders and encouraged residents to support those undergoing treatment. No formal funding or program actions were taken during the proclamation; the item consisted of recognition and remarks.
