New Clay Alumni Association launched under Oregon Schools Foundation umbrella

Dana Wheeler and Terry Hook told the board on Aug. 20 that a formal Clay Alumni Association has launched and will operate under the Oregon Schools Foundation as it organizes events and fundraising for Clay High School.
Wheeler said the new association arose from the district strategic plan and that an alumni leadership team formed in March. “We have developed an alumni leadership team or committee,” Wheeler said. “This committee has basically set up a structure and, we are excited to be on the path moving forward with the launch of a new alumni association.”
Terry Hook, introduced as a former third‑grade teacher and long‑time participant in alumni discussions, said the organization will promote alumni engagement and support academics, arts and athletics. Hook described coordination with other volunteers and an intent to raise funds through the Oregon Schools Foundation legal structure.
Board members acknowledged the launch and noted plans to appear at sporting events with an alumni tent. Wheeler and Hook said the alumni group plans to relaunch the old CHFA (Clay High alumni and friends) social presence as a Clay High School social page and that the first Eagle Fest is planned for September 2025.
Why it matters: a formal alumni structure is intended to centralize fundraising and event support for Clay High School and the district; the board received the update and no vote was required.
