County commissioners approve placing 9-1-1 renewal with small millage increase on November ballot

Delaware County commissioners on July 31 voted to place a renewal levy for the 9-1-1 system on the November ballot that would renew the existing 0.68 mills and add 0.05 additional mills.
Justin Avey, county director of finance, said the resolution authorizes placement of the levy on the November ballot and follows a previously adopted resolution of necessity. "This resolution would authorize the placement of the levy on the November ballot, and it'll include a renewal of the existing 0.68 mills with an increase of 0.05 mills, for consideration by the electorate," Avey said.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve resolution 25-580. No additional details about projected revenue, exact rate change timing or the duration of the levy were provided in the meeting; Avey characterized the action as a procedural step to place the question before voters.
The measure will appear on the November ballot for voter consideration. County staff did not provide an estimate at the meeting of projected annual revenue from the proposed 0.05-mill increase or the proposed levy’s term.
