The Page County Board of Supervisors approved advertising a county farm lease in the local paper on Oct. 15 and set a deadline for receiving bids at noon on Dec. 8, to be opened at the board’s regular meeting on Dec. 9.

County staff explained an updated legal description of two parcels (one containing the jail and the other containing farm structures) is available, but that the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) office was closed temporarily and could not supply an acreage breakdown tied to FSA maps. Staff said most prospective bidders are familiar with local parcels and an aerial map will accompany the invitation to bid; if FSA reopens before bids are due, staff will incorporate official acreage details.

Supervisors discussed timing and recommended giving bidders time to assess fall crop outcomes; one supervisor recommended receiving bids by Dec. 8 and opening bids at the Dec. 9 meeting to allow growers to see harvest results. The motion to set the publication date, bid deadline and opening date was made, seconded and approved. Staff will publish the advertisement on Oct. 15, post the invitation on the county website and accept sealed bids in the Auditor’s Office by noon on Dec. 8.
