The Connecticut Real Estate Appraisal Commission on Oct. 8 approved a six‑month extension of a provisional appraisal license for Brian Mulrady, who told the panel he has completed necessary experience hours but must finish required education.
The commission said the extension was contingent on Mulrady completing all qualifying education by the January meeting and submitting his work log immediately after finishing his coursework so the board can pick samples for review in February. Staff said Mulrady has about 3,600 experience hours logged and had completed roughly 105 education hours; he told the panel he has signed up for remaining courses through McKissick and planned to complete about 30 hours a month.
Commissioners expressed concern about timing and about the feasibility of finishing courses before the license deadline. A motion granting a six‑month extension carried after a member proposed the January deadline for completion of education so there would be time to collect and sample fieldwork in February. The commission also asked Mulrady to notify staff immediately of any scheduling or other problems.
Why it matters: Provisional extensions affect whether a candidate can continue to accrue qualifying experience and move to a permanent credential. The commission said the conditions were intended to balance giving a candidate reasonable time to finish coursework while protecting the integrity of the licensing process.
Details and next steps: The commission asked staff to receive monthly certificates from Mulrady as he completes classes and to notify the board if the January deadline is missed. If he finishes his education on schedule, Mulrady must submit his full application and experience log so the board can select file samples for review at the February meeting.
