Council approves 3-way stop and pedestrian improvements at West Dixie and Raymond for $2,500

The Marietta City Council on Oct. 8 authorized the Public Works Department to convert the intersection of West Dixie Avenue and Raymond Street to a three-way stop condition and to install pedestrian crosswalks and sidewalk access improvements at an estimated cost of $2,500.
Public Works presented the request and said staff completed an evaluation and found no issues with installing the three-way stop and associated pedestrian improvements. Mark Rice, presenting for Public Works, said the work will include crosswalk markings and modifications at sidewalk access points.
After a required public hearing produced no speakers, the councilmember representing Ward 1 moved to approve the request; a second was made and the motion carried. The council did not record a roll-call tally in the public transcript; the chair announced the motion carried.
Staff characterized the cost as a total estimated expense of $2,500 and identified the work as located in Ward 1A. The installation will proceed under the Public Works Department’s standard procedures for traffic control and pedestrian-access improvements.
