The Coos Bay City Council adopted a proclamation declaring Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2025, as Hispanic Heritage Month in the city.
Lucinda De Novo, city councilor, read the proclamation noting the national observance dates and this year’s theme, “collective heritage, honoring the past, inspiring the future.” The proclamation states, in part, “I, Lucinda De Novo, city councilor of Coos Bay, do hereby declare that September 15 through 10/15/2025, to be known as Hispanic Heritage Month and encourage all residents to celebrate the unique and vibrant Hispanic history and recommit ourselves to a shared future of healthy, peaceful, safe, and sustainable communities for all.”
A councilor moved to adopt the proclamation, a second was recorded, and the council voted in favor; Mayor Benetti called the motion carried. Councilors expressed personal appreciation for the observance; no further action or budget allocation accompanied the proclamation.
