The speaker described a student arts-and-crafts project—pinwheels made by freshmen—to be placed around the cemetery for a weekend event and encouraged residents to "go look for the pinwheels all over town." The commenter also noted a new Junior ROTC program at Marshfield, sponsored by the Coast Guard, that will help raise and lower flags and will obtain appropriately sized POW/MIA and Oregon flags for the site.
Another attendee asked whether impromptu classical-music performances were allowed; the commission did not make a formal ruling during the meeting but discussed past practice and similar events at other local cemeteries.
