Kathy, who manages the commission’s website work, said the commission’s Wix site has been updated and a dormant membership-signup feature was discovered and temporarily disabled. She asked the commission whether it wanted a subscriber list or a formal member signup to collect email addresses for event notices.

The question matters because a functioning signup would let the commission reach residents directly about calls for art, events and applications; Kathy said the feature needs to be fixed before it is used. She also reported the site will receive search engine optimization (SEO) work after Heritage Days to help pages appear in search results.

Kathy proposed redesigning the artist registry so that visitors can search by a smaller set of general categories (for example: painting, sculpture, performing arts) rather than a very long list of media. “If you could take a minute and maybe email me what you think our general categories should be,” she told commissioners, who agreed to supply input by email.

Commissioners also approved starting a website blog titled Living Artfully in January 2026, with each commissioner taking a month to contribute. Caitlin volunteered to act as a schools liaison for outreach to increase student participation in the annual exhibit. Commissioners discussed including photos and short biographies for artist pages and using the city newsletter to populate the website so the commission would not duplicate work.

The commission agreed to pursue the registry redesign, address SEO needs and enable a subscription mechanism; staff will collect suggested registry categories and report back at the next meeting.
