The Parkland City Commission voted Oct. 8 to authorize several routine procurement and professional-service items intended to support operations and planning in the coming fiscal year.
Jeff Napier, the city’s director of purchasing, told the commission the city proposes to piggyback cooperative contracts to allow purchases through the Amazon online marketplace and to make in-store purchases at Lowe’s. "This resolution will represent our projected spend on the Amazon online marketplace for the fiscal year," Napier said, noting the figures are based on prior-year usage. The commission approved an aggregate Amazon marketplace authorization of $175,000 and an aggregate Lowe’s authorization of $110,000 through the end of the current fiscal year.
Separately, the commission approved a work authorization with Complete Cities Planning Group LLC in the amount of $98,000 to provide planning services for fiscal year 2026. Caitlin Forbes and planning staff described the scope as including planning director functions and discrete task work orders: an update to the city’s water-supply plan (estimated $6,000), comprehensive plan and land-development code work (about $15,000), services related to the Village in the Park project (about $12,000), and general planning services (about $65,000). Staff recommended the work authorization based on prior performance and continuity of service.
All three items passed on recorded roll-call votes; commissioners approved the procurements and the Complete Cities contract unanimously.
