Heather Peterson, WIC coordinator at Reno County, told residents that WIC benefits remain available and that families should continue using them during the government shutdown.
"Families are encouraged to continue to use their benefits at this time throughout the government shutdown," Peterson said. "Please keep an eye on your WIC Shopper app for additional guidance that would come from the state agency."
Peterson said Reno County is continuing in-person appointments and that clients with upcoming appointments will receive a reminder phone call. "We encourage you to continue to keep those appointments," she said. For questions, she provided the Reno County WIC office number: (620) 259-8442.
The announcement is informational: Peterson relayed current operating procedures and advised residents to monitor state agency updates via the WIC Shopper app. No formal actions or policy changes were announced during the remarks.
