The City Council voted to table a park-fee ordinance discussion until the city receives the final park master plan from consultant AKS, staff said at the Aug. 13 meeting.
The budget approved earlier included an item for a park fee, but staff and councilors said it makes sense to align any fee ordinance with the recommendations and timeline in the still-pending master plan. Staff expects the master plan to be finished by the end of the summer; council voted to keep the park-fee topic on unfinished-business lists and revisit it once the master plan is available.
Why it matters: creating a park fee ordinance before the master plan is final could require multiple ordinance revisions; aligning fee structure with the master plan lets council evaluate project priorities and fee justifications together.
Action: a motion to table the park-fee ordinance until the master plan is received passed by voice vote; staff will return with the plan and a recommended ordinance in a future meeting.
