City leaders said the city had off-boarded its previous outsourced IT vendor and used a temporary service while evaluating new providers. Alexanet gave a presentation to the council earlier in the day; staff and the finance manager will finalize the scope and cost options and either sign the contract under the city’s procurement rules or present the final agreement to council for approval if required by the charter.
Why it matters: the contract covers cybersecurity, systems support and day-to-day IT operations for city systems. Councilors said having a nearby provider should speed response times and allow more thorough system review.
Council action: a motion directing staff to move forward with the IT services agreement passed by voice vote; council asked the finance manager and chief Graven to coordinate details and to return to council if the charter or procurement rules require formal authorization.
