Presenters said the building won the 2024 Officer Magazine Station Design Silver Award, the 2024 Engineering News-Record Best Government/Public Building (Texas and Louisiana region), and additional honors from the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association.
City remarks emphasized the difference between the old headquarters and the new facility for employees who provide support to sworn officers, describing the new workplace as less “dungeon-like” and better suited for high-stress public-safety work. The council credited collaboration among the design team, contractor and city staff as essential to the project’s success.
The recognition noted the project was part of broader public-safety improvement efforts and publicly applauded the construction and design partners; council members did not announce new spending or additional projects during the presentation.
Council members encouraged residents to tour the headquarters and acknowledged the awards as a regional recognition of the city’s investment in public-safety infrastructure.
