Neighborhood association donates $25,000 over five years for park trees

The mayor invited association members forward to present a signed check to city staff.
Council comments highlighted the partnership as an example of resident-led investment in neighborhood beautification and park improvements. City staff present at the podium said the parks and recreation department had drawn the tree-planting plan and will work with the neighborhood on implementation and tree procurement.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal ordinance or budget appropriation was announced during the presentation. Council members encouraged other neighborhood groups to pursue similar collaborations with the city’s parks and recreation department.
City leaders said the effort supports urban canopy and neighborhood quality of life but did not specify the number or species of trees to be planted; a city staff member said final counts will depend on available stock and procurement arrangements.
