The Richmond Community Schools Board of Trustees approved several policy updates Wednesday, adopting second readings for policies on suspension and expulsion for students with disabilities, a general suspension and expulsion policy, anti‑harassment procedures and a seizure response policy.
A staff member said one of the changes to the suspension/expulsion policy was required by an Indiana code change and that the revision added a single line to reflect that statutory update. The anti‑harassment policy was adjusted to change some position titles and to revise procedures for how unlawful harassment complaints are handled. The seizure policy (policy 5771) was also approved on second reading.
All of the listed policy items passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The transcript records motions and seconds for each policy item and notes that the updates were discussed in previous policy‑committee meetings.
Board members said the changes were vetted in policy committee and public meetings; no amendments were offered at the final reading. The board did not take any separate disciplinary actions in the meeting beyond adopting the revised policies.
