Board adopts employee time-and-attendance policy and narrows extended-travel survey requirement for CTSO groups

The Davis School District board approved two policy updates: revisions to the employee time-and-attendance policy (2HR-005) and an amendment to student transportation and extended travel rules that relieves small Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) groups of a survey requirement for extended travel.

Human-resources presenter Mr. Onofrio said the 2HR-005 changes respond to an audit and state-board adjustments and largely formalize current practice rather than change daily operations: "I don't anticipate this will affect our practice or what we're already doing. It just basically underlines what we're our practice already is." The board approved the policy on second and final reading.

Separately, the board approved a revision to extended-travel procedures to remove the survey requirement for certain CTSO groups that send small numbers of qualifying students to competitions such as national events. The change was described as intended to prevent small, achievement-based groups from being blocked from attending because a small number of families decline travel. A trustee noted the distinction between team travel and individual qualifiers: "If it's an individual type thing, they should have individual, ability to go." The board approved that amendment on first and final reading.

Both policies were advanced by motions from the policy committee and approved by voice vote.
