Summary
BLT told the committee about recent volunteer cleanup and maintenance work, bench cleaning, graffiti removal, upcoming trail paving and planned improvements at Beaton Lane and the Bark Slough Trail loop.
Representatives of Lebanon Trails (BLT) reported volunteer maintenance, multiple work parties and partnerships with the city and unions to keep trails open and safe.
BLT said volunteers removed an encampment on the Island Loop Trails, cut ivy at Riverview Park, scrubbed graffiti from trail concrete and completed work parties to improve access. A BLT representative said the group cleaned 21 pieces of graffiti on the trail and that contractors handled deep bench cleaning.
“We cleaned off 21 graffitis on the trail,” a BLT representative said.
BLT noted a donated leaf blower will help speed trail maintenance once it is delivered, and thanked 44 North for adopting the Eagle Scout Trail for quarterly maintenance. The group also credited the Carpenters Union for volunteer help at Cheadle and other projects.
Staff provided project updates: Scott Jones, the city engineering project manager, told the committee paving on the River (Riverview) Park Trail is expected to occur across a two-week window (paving then concrete), and BLT said tree plantings on that trail are planned in November and next spring.
BLT also outlined a property-permission-based improvement at Beaton Lane to create a safer shared route connecting trail segments and said right-of-way exchanges are complete with the property owner; work is expected in coming months.
BLT asked the committee and city for continued coordination on trail projects, and the city said it will follow up on larger trail proposals (such as Burcotte Creek trails) that are beyond day-to-day maintenance scope.
