Charleston City Council adopted Amendment No. 2 to the fiscal year 2025–26 general fund budget, which includes rollovers of previously unfinalized purchases and a correction reallocating $35,000 to equipment for the Fire Department.

Councilmember Jenkins explained the amendment: “This, amendment essentially mostly just is rolling over purchases that weren't finalized in the prior, budget year. It also makes a correction when we amended the budget in amendment 1. Dollars 35,000 was put into unassigned funds, but it should have gone to, equipment for the fire department.”

The finance committee recommended adoption. The council approved Resolution 25-088 by roll call; the clerk read the ayes, and the mayor declared the resolution adopted.

The amendment was characterized as primarily housekeeping to align prior-year encumbrances and to correct the prior amendment’s account placement.
