Public Health secures state agreements for WIC support, school-based health and infrastructure funding

Katie, Jefferson County Public Health Director, presented several intergovernmental agreements and amendments from the Oregon Health Authority and other state agencies. Commissioners voted to approve an MOU to provide WIC coordination and staff training support to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, citing the tribes’ short staffing for WIC services.
Public Health also presented a third amendment to a 2025–2027 OHA public‑health financing agreement that adds infrastructure grant funds (CDC dollars) and support for school‑based health; the Board approved the amendment. Additional OHA amendments approved at the meeting included funding for community mental‑health services, mobile crisis intervention, and the MHS Choice Model program for care coordination. The Board also approved a VOCA grant agreement with the Oregon Department of Justice to support victim services.
Katie said WIC funding had been extended through October, and staff expressed ongoing concern about future state and federal funding levels.
