City Council authorized a $579,755 construction contract for a new storm sewer on Chesterfield Avenue near Glenridge Road, adopting Resolution 25-096 on Oct. 6.
"This is a sizable project over on Chesterfield Avenue in that area. Most of it is funded through a directed, congressional spending, from our senator Capito and this has been long in the works. There will be a 25% match from the city," Council member Jenkins told the council when reporting the finance committee recommendation.
The contract award to Lake Crest Construction was described in the committee report as the product of a competitive bid process. Council adopted the resolution by voice vote. The committee and council documents indicate the project addresses localized stormwater needs on city-owned streets in the Chesterfield/Glenridge area.
Council did not attach additional conditions or a project timeline during the meeting discussion; staff will administer the contract through standard procurement and construction oversight processes.
The resolution text and committee report identify the primary funding as a directed congressional allocation associated with U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, with a required municipal match of 25 percent noted by the finance committee.
