Developers withdraw annexation petition for 350.8 acres to the city of Delaware; county to regroup with city

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners acknowledged July 14 the withdrawal of an annexation petition filed June 3 by Michael R. Shade, attorney at law, that sought annexation of approximately 350.8 acres (175.8 acres in Delaware Township and 175 acres in Troy Township) to the city of Delaware.
Commissioners said this withdrawal is the second and described it as a technical withdrawal followed by a larger reconfiguration: the parties intend to regroup and discuss with the city “what sort of annexation and project makes sense,” according to the board. The resolution acknowledging the withdrawal (25-522) passed with commissioners present voting aye.
Staff said the withdrawal allows the petitioner and city to rework the annexation proposal and return with a revised filing when appropriate.
