Sheriff’s office to relocate and renew training simulator subscription with VirTra

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved a three‑year services and subscription agreement July 14 with VirTra Inc. to provide training simulator equipment and subscription services to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Dave Weisman of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office told commissioners the contract will support a second simulator and allow the department to relocate one simulator from Substation 23 in Orange to a new county training facility. Weisman said the contract is for a new three‑year term and that the department is exploring training‑related grant funding that might offset some costs.
Commissioners approved the agreement (resolution 25-512). During discussion, a commissioner asked whether course fees or other grant monies help offset training costs; Weisman said he was not certain of amounts but noted “I know if we do training course, it does pay us back for some things.” The board voted aye to approve the contract.
