PERRY COUNTY, Ind. — At Thursday’s meeting the Perry County Council approved a set of small additional appropriations and a motion of intent to pay outstanding invoices related to courthouse paving and building maintenance, and approved a short additional appropriation for a clerk’s required election training.
Libs Paving and courthouse patching
County staff said Libs Paving completed the courthouse paving work previously approved at $98,600 but that additional patching discovered during work required a $2,900 extra appropriation from the capital projects fund to pay the vendor. The council approved a motion of intent to fund the $2,900 from capital projects so the invoice can be paid; the request was presented at the commissioners’ request and noted as funded in capital projects.
Courthouse chiller repair
Staff reported the courthouse had exhausted its $10,000 maintenance appropriation for the current year after an expensive chiller repair. The council approved an additional appropriation request of $5,500 to pay current invoices (the presenter said one invoice was $4,952.17 and the total request would get the county through year-end). The motion passed unanimously.
Clerk travel for mandated election training
The clerk requested an $850 additional appropriation to cover registration, hotel and per diem shortfalls for required training in Indianapolis Dec. 15–17. The council approved that appropriation; the clerk’s travel and registration are required duties for the office.
Why it matters: These are operational appropriations resolving completed or mandatory expenses; the Libs Paving item ensures a completed contracted paving job is paid in full, and the chiller repair addresses courthouse HVAC functionality.
