The Galesburg CUSD 205 Board of Education approved updated job descriptions for custodial positions during the meeting. Board members praised the clarity the documents provide about daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities and said custodians were consulted during drafting.
One board member commented that in the past the district lacked clear statements of custodial responsibilities and that the new descriptions help define who is responsible for cleaning which areas. A presenter credited senior custodians and an employee named Andrew for contributing realistic, "boots on the ground" input to the job descriptions.
Board members moved and seconded the item and approved it by voice vote. The updated job descriptions are intended to improve onboarding, set expectations and aid supervisors in assigning work.
