Warren County commissioners voted to accept an opioid settlement agreement and allocate any settlement shares according to the terms discussed in the draft agreement.

County public‑health staff told commissioners that prior opioid settlement monies and related grant awards have been used to host speakers in schools and to fund local initiatives; staff said the impact of the funds is difficult to measure but that the money has supported prevention outreach. Commissioners completed a voice vote accepting the settlement agreement and asked staff to continue tracking how funds are spent locally.

The agreement is the county’s acceptance of a larger multijurisdictional settlement; commissioners acknowledged legal fees and other deductions that will reduce the county’s net payment but said accepting the settlement allows the county to receive and use its share under local spending rules and applicable state guidance.
