City Engineer MD Hussain presented updates Thursday on 18 capital-improvement projects in DeSoto, including multi-lane roadway widenings, bridge work coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation and several water and sanitary sewer replacements.
Hussain said the Daniel Day Road project will widen the existing roadway to four lanes and replace a temporary signal with a permanent traffic signal at Daniel Day Road and Bolton Bone; design was about 90% complete and staff expects design completion by January 2026 with a bid publication and construction planned to begin in late 2026. He said West Moreland Road widening is at 100% design, with bids expected by the end of the month, an award in January and construction beginning in March 2026.
On the Hampton Road corridor redevelopment, Hussain said the conceptual (15%) design is complete. The city manager clarified that a cited $48,000,000 figure for that corridor would not be spent all at once: “the expectation is not that the city is gonna spend $48,000,000…
