The Blackford County Council adopted the county’s 2026 budget and the Blackford County Solid Waste District budget during the meeting.

Council members first approved the Solid Waste District’s 2026 budget by motion and roll-call vote. Later the council voted to adopt the county’s 2026 budget; the meeting record shows the county budget passed on a roll-call vote. Council members thanked county staff and contributors for work on the budget, and the chair noted the process is lengthy and involves subsequent appropriation and transfer steps.

The meeting record also shows the council approved minutes from prior meetings and approved other routine transfers and appropriations. The county auditor provided a financial report showing an ending cash balance for the county general fund for September 2025 of $3,265,545.67 and September 2025 total expenditures and revenue figures.

Councilors said staff will continue to present supplemental appropriation requests and detailed transfers as needed during the fiscal year.
