The Tamarac City Commission on Oct. 8 approved first reading of an ordinance updating the city’s development impact fees after a consultant told commissioners state law requires fees be based on the most recent localized data.
Carson Beas of Tishler Bice presented the firm’s impact fee study and recommended a 25% increase phased in over two installments for parks and recreation, government facilities and multimodal transportation. The increase responds to House Bill 479 and updated trip‑generation and census inputs, Beas said.
Commissioner Bolton moved the ordinance on first reading; Commissioner Wright seconded. The roll call vote was 5‑0 in favor. The study and ordinance set a second reading for Oct. 22 and a 90‑day notice period before implementation; staff estimated an effective date near Jan. 20, 2026.
